At deaths door.

Hello. I was walking through the churchyard yesterday on my way to the Post Office, which is now held inside the church, three mornings a week. I came across my friend who was tidying up some relatives graves, removing old decorations, trimming the grass, and replacing with fresh flowers. This rather tired looking wicker basket was destined for the bin at the gate, to be hauled off to landfill. I thought that was a shame so I asked her for it. Three of the plants inside looked like they were hanging on to life as best they could, in the dried up compost. The little conifer was definitely dead.
I stripped it out and gave it a brush to remove the loose dust, then gave it two coats of emulsion paint from my tester pots. The first a cream colour, then a pale blue.

Hasn't it come up lovely. Amazing, it was outside exposed to the elements probably since Christmas, it had a Christmas ribbon on it. So now it is like new once again. It probably wouldn't fare very well if it was left outside again, so when it is sold on our cat stall I shall tell the new owner to keep it indoors.

This little rose bush should definitely make it, in a new pot and soaked with water, it's got some buds. I think the ivy and the primrose will also live, with a bit of TLC from now on.

A few pics of the garden. I bought these five storage boxes from Tesco a few years ago, drilled some holes in the bottom, and planted up with a cheap packet of seeds. They have come up every year since. Good value I reckon.

Gawd knows what these are called, I don't bother trying to remember plant names, If they come with labels from a garden centre I chuck them away, ha ha. Some of them I got from Aunties plant sale.

I think these are hollyhocks, ha ha.

The bees seem to like these orange ones, there are lots of them, on tall stalks, and they have swamped the rest of the plants in the bed.

The bees like these as well.

All looking good, some plants need re-potting into bigger pots. Two weeks to get it all shipshape for the Open Gardens. Loads to do.

Thanks for popping in, have a nice weekend, we'll catch up soon.
